Silver Star is located in B.C.’s Okanagan valley, about 30 minutes from Vernon, and one hour from the boomtown Kelowna. It's made up of two distinct ski areas, one for novices and intermediates, the other for intermediate and expert skiers Recently opened, Skiers and boarders now have a further 360 acres of new terrain to explore in the new Silver Woods area. Serviced by an express quad lift, Silver Woods includes 7 new runs and loads of intermediate glade skiing on north-east facing slopes. There are 115 runs in total at Silver Star featuring a variety of terrain and Canada's Best Backside. Some people believe that you can’t be all things for all people, but with over 3000 skiable acres we think we can. There are the immaculately groomed cruisers of Vance Creek, playful gladed areas in Silver Woods and the challenging steeps of the infamous Putnam Creek. Magical, Boutique Village Featuring Unique Bars & Restaurants The mountains of British Columbia were once home to vibrant gold and silver mining towns. The prize people are now after is pure white, but the character and charm of Silver Star’s village is a page from the past with its own unique twist. The buildings are all painted vibrant colours creating a magical setting like no other. The comfortable daytime temperatures average -3 C (27 F), is cold enough to keep the snow light and fluffy, yet perfect for skiing, riding, cross country skiing and winter activities. BRAND NEW CHAIRLIFT FOR 2006/2007 The NEW 'Alpine Meadows' quad chairlift has been announced for Silver Star to service runs in the Attridge area. With a capacity of 1,200 people per hour and a quick 5 minute ride to the top, the chairlift will be constructed during the Summer of 2006 and be ready for the opening of the 2006-2007 winter season - click here to read more NEW SINCE 2005/2006 - SILVER WOODS Silver Woods, opened in 2005 offers a further 360 acres of all-new skiing terrain on ten runs and five glades. Vertical drop is 359 metres – almost 1200 vertical feet. The base of the Silver Woods new express quad chairlift is 140 metres (400 vertical feet) below the Comet Express, adding length to runs on Silver Star's Vance Creek side of the mountain - click here to view a PDF map of the new ski area
VANCE CREEK Vance Creek is the easier side and is easily accessible from the village's ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Vance Creek's well-groomed, wide open pistes are ideal for novices and intermediates.
